The feeding program provides food to children that come from families experiencing poverty in the nearby communities. The feeding program provides meals that ensure that the children are
receiving a healthy diet. A healthy diet for children is essential because it facilitates the growth, good health and development of children. It also means that the children are less at risk of
developing chronic diseases such as heart disease and diabetes. The children assisted at the center are mostly those that reside in the nearby Kware slums, they are exposed to un sanitary
environments and hunger hence they are more susceptible to diseases such as marasmus and kwashiorkor as well as illnesses such as cholera. The provision of food also helps the children to be
able to stay in school since they are able to concentrate on their school work due to good nutrition and they also are not worrying about where they will get their next meal, they are also less likely to miss school due to working for food or begging for food which improves their performance in school.
