Celebrating World Health Day 2024: A Mission for Child Care and Well-being.

Today, on World Health Day, we at St Ignatius Orthodox Child Care and Rescue Mission Centre reflect on our commitment to ensuring the health and well-being of every child under our care. Every child deserves a healthy start in life, and our mission is to provide them with the necessary support and resources to thrive. From nutritious meals to medical assistance and health education, we strive to make a positive impact on the lives of these young ones.

Feeding Program: Nourishing Bodies, Nurturing Health.

One of the cornerstones of our efforts is our feeding program. We believe that access to nutritious food is essential for the growth and development of children. Through our feeding program, we provide balanced meals to all the children in our care, ensuring they receive the essential nutrients they need to stay healthy and active. By addressing malnutrition and hunger, we not only improve their physical health but also support their cognitive and emotional development.

Comprehensive Assistance: Supporting Every Aspect of Health.

In addition to food, we provide comprehensive assistance to address other aspects of health. This includes access to clean water, clothing, and medical care. Many of the children we serve come from vulnerable backgrounds where access to these basic necessities is limited. By providing these essentials, we create a foundation for better health outcomes and overall well-being.

Through our medical assistance program, we ensure that children receive prompt medical attention when needed. Whether it’s treating common illnesses or providing necessary vaccinations, we prioritize the health of every child. Additionally, we assist families with medical bills, alleviating the financial burden and ensuring that children receive the care they need without delay.

Livestock Projects: Harnessing the Power of Milk for Health.

Our goat and cow projects are another initiative aimed at improving the health of our children. By raising goats and cows, we are able to provide fresh milk to supplement their diets. Milk is a rich source of nutrients essential for growth and development, including calcium, protein, and vitamins. By incorporating milk into their diets, we strengthen their bones, boost their immune systems, and support overall health.

World Health Day Celebrations: Empowering Children with Health Education.

Today, on World Health Day, we organized special activities to empower children with essential health knowledge. From teaching them how, when, and why to brush their teeth to emphasizing the importance of handwashing and regular exercise, we instilled healthy habits that will benefit them for a lifetime. By educating children about health and hygiene, we empower them to take charge of their own well-being and become advocates for healthy living in their communities.

A Heartfelt Thanks.

On this special day, we extend our heartfelt thanks to all our supporters, donors, volunteers, and staff who make our mission possible. Your generosity and dedication enable us to provide essential care and support to children in need, giving them the opportunity to lead healthier, happier lives. Together, we are making a difference, one child at a time.

As we celebrate World Health Day 2024, let us reaffirm our commitment to the health and well-being of every child, today and every day. Thank you for joining us on this journey towards a healthier, brighter future for all.

Warm regards,
Fr Samuel Macharia
